Though he doesn't have any Degrees in the subjects, he has the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Genetics, Engineering, and an Associate's Degree in Physics. Personal History:The Slayer awoke one day in a giant test tube. He was floating in a strange green liquid with wires attached to his skin and a gas mask attached to his face, which allowed him to breathe. In a matter of days, he understood the language the scientists around him were speaking (English) and found out that he was 10 years old. Apparently, they could preform "tests" on him now that he was conscious. Slayer soon found out exactly what these tests were, at least to him: pure torture. Chemicals that caused him extreme pain were injected into him, he was forced to run for many hours at a time(much faster than the scientists could run, he soon noticed), and strange probes were put into his blood, creating great ache in his body for days each time. However, Edward began grasping the strange concepts behind what they were doing. They were preforming "Genetic manipulation" and testing using the needles and running to see if it worked. Although they knew it was working, he found, they didn't know to what extent, or why it was working so much better on this subject. They reasoned it had something to do with his "other chromosome", which seemed to enhance him more than the other subjects. Most of this Ed did not understand, but some he did. They were changing him. Without his permission. And he found that he didn't like that one bit.
So one day, his anger mixing with the pain of a chemical test, he hit the scientist that was injecting him. The surprised fellow flew across the room and made a load snap as he hit the wall. The others came rushing, but kept their distance. They had never anticipated Slayer fighting back. With the element of surprise on his side, he continued breaking various equipment (which seemed much easier than he thought it would be), and hit any poor fool who got too close, knocking them aside like they were little rag dolls. His anger, rather than diminishing from the violence, continued to rise. Eventually, things seemed to "shimmer" around him, and the things around him burst into flame or melted. Finally, he reached a peak of fury, and as he yelled to the heavens, his body was wreathed in blue flames, and exploded outward. He blacked out.
The Slayer woke a day later, his naked body lying in burnt grass while a foot from his the ground was covered in snow. Drudgedly, he got up and gathered his bearings. It had been one year since he had "woken up" in the laboratory, he had went on a rampage....and then a blank. He had no recollection of how he had gotten here, where he was, and why there was a pile of slightly burnt papers next to him. He decided to read a sign that stood next to him. "Welcome to Canada?" he said aloud. He had never heard of such a place. Looking at the papers on the ground, he decided that perhaps they could give him some valuable information. He read them, and discovered that he had a mother. However, this company (who's name was unfortunately burned from the paper) had taken him from her once he was born, and killed her. As for his father, it provided no information. His name however, he learned was Edward Ravened. And he was subjected to experiments that enhanced his overall body function, providing increased performance and efficiency in every organ in his body, giving him super-human strength, speed, reaction time, and intelligence (quickness and ability to remember facts, not IQ, although his IQ is above average).
After his discoveries, he went south if the sign, and wandered across the land. Eventually, he came to the city known as Detroit. There he spent 4 years living off the streets, hoping to find someone who could show him who and what he really was. Then one day, just as he was about to mug someone (only as a means of survival), a red haired youth stopped him. Telling him to "come home" with him, Slayer went down into an abandoned subway station. The red haired kid then opened a door that seemed to come from nowhere, and stepped into another world.....
In this other dimension (known as Gate), Slayer found out that he was from a race of incredibly powerful beings that lived for upwards of 1000 years, elemental demi-gods known as Degaden. Due to the genetic engineering preformed on him however, his elemental powers had lessened somewhat, or were harder to access compared to other Degaden's powers. Normal Degaden, essentially perfect in bodily function, (and thus super-human in prowess) however, could never hope to reach his level of physical power. His speed could not be matched except by flight or teleportation, his reactions would let him dodge every Degaden blow, His strength could lift a car with one hand, and his skin could not be pierced without great effort on the Degaden's part.
He trained with the Degaden for two years, fighting to keep the balance of the elements in the "elemental planes" and learning various martial arts (as well as gaining such weapons as his adamintine gladiuses). However, after many victories he was starting to find that there was something....wrong with the Degaden council. They seemed to be acting strangely....and agreed on most subjects, agreed to things that he knew would upset the balance of power between the planes. He sought council with an elder of Nihil. Upon reaching him however, the room was locked, and the councilman told him that a Degaden known as Stratagem was controlling the Degaden council. Slayer would not, however, be able to tell anyone this information because he would be dead before he left.
The Slayer then earned his nickname. He slaughtered every Degaden that tried to stop him, all 20 of them. He was banished from Gate to the human dimension on account of the "murders" along with the 50 other Degaden Stratagem killed himself and blamed on Slayer. Slayer vowed that he would bring the Degaden back to their former glory and end the life of Stratagem.
One month later, Slayer has found that others have broken free of Stratagem's control and were banished, most notably his magic mentor Mistic and his most trusted ally Black. With their help, Slayer hopes to return to Gate and take back the society of Demi-gods....for whatever vengeful purpose he has yet to reveal.
